When was the last time you saved to the cloud? If it was recently, meaning you won't lose to much progress, try resetting your game and then downloading your data from the cloud.

That happened with the Carnival update (just checked my back-up game that is still on the Carnival update to be sure). But don't worry! Those hobbies are still available for preteens. I think they did it because they are not like the other hobbies ( there are no rewards).
