Husband and I are moving there in May/June and are flying over in a few weeks to scout locations.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Anyone from Seattle or the surrounding areas?

Re: Anyone from Seattle or the surrounding areas?
Any areas we should absolutely avoid?
I don't want to live in the city (way too crowded) and would like to live within an hour from the airport.
Looking into Vashon Island because I have a distant relative there.
Also checking out Maple Valley (I think that's the name).
I need a house with a yard for my four-legged jerks. We're in an apartment in MD right now and it really sucks that they don't have running space. I absolutely loathe walking them in the snow.
Also, are you part of that whole Seattle Freeze thing? My friend moved from there after a year because she couldn't meet anyone. For other reasons too, of course but that also took its toll.
I'm not worried about it because I'm fairly anti-social anyway.

Re: Anyone from Seattle or the surrounding areas?
We moved here a year ago and it just happened that a good friend of mine lives about 5 minutes away.
I see her about every 3 months. Ha!

Re: Anyone from Seattle or the surrounding areas?
I am... sort of! I am in the Vancouver area of BC, (Canada) so a mere few hours drive away.
And it's funny what you say about the Seattle Freeze since people say the same thing about Vancouver lol. Maybe it's a 'big' city thing. I don't know, I don't really notice it myself but then I'm not out trying to meet people. And I visited Seattle a couple of years ago and everyone seemed very friendly. Of course I wasn't attempting to make friends then either though, so I guess it makes a difference.

Re: Anyone from Seattle or the surrounding areas?
My husband's company has a lot of business in Vancouver, so we'll be visiting there regularly.
With the freeze, people are friendly, but it's that they don't want to forge friendships or something.
Evidently, it's enough of an issue that people have a name for it.
I'm really not worried. I have my husband, my dogs, the internet, and when I need interaction a trip to a shop or two is plenty for me. If I start to crave friends, I'll hop a plane to Texas. It's how I've managed to survive MD.

Vancouver is a nice city too, very similar to Seattlesewknotpho-n wrote:My husband's company has a lot of business in Vancouver, so we'll be visiting there regularly.

Yes that's exactly what they say about here too. You'll have to let us know if you notice this 'freeze' thing.
I'm with you there, I have all I need right now lol.
