Optional items are:

Woodworking Bench (there is one at the community center)

The Buildings needed for social goals are:

There are also some goals that require your sim to have relationships with other sims (these don't have to be at the HFN but I thought this was a good place to add this info):
1 sim to get to the "dating" relationship
1 sim to get to the "partner" relationship (WhoHoo, Be Romantic)
1 sim to get to the "friend" relationship (High Five)
1 sim to get to the "good friend" relationship (Bro Hug)
1 sim to get to the "best friend" relationship (Chest Bump)
1 sim to get to the "nemesis" relationship

Thank you so very, very much for this list!!! Big hugs, virtual chocolate and cookies all around!

Because I'm getting so bloody tired of all the events/quests I've been giving a lot of thought to redesigning my town and I want to build an actual HFN this time and your list will help immensely. :D

Thank you so much for the list.. I kept wondering if I forgot items. A question: I have both a teen study desk and a pre-teen study desk in the HFN. Can I eliminate the Teen one, since the Teens can use the pre-teen one? Or will the goal not complete?
HFN: 2 Firehouse Road (has oven fire), Firepole and pets
Haunted House: 3 Firehouse Road
Firepole: 10 Westside
Happy Simming!

You can eliminate the Teen study desk. The goal is for a preteen to use the study desk so it will complete with a preteen study desk. I haven't tested to see if the goal would complete if a preteen used a Teen study desk, though.

Thank you, I'll eliminate the Teen study desk. For some reason I thought there was a SG for a Teen to do a Science Project. Yay to room for other things.

You're welcome! There are only goals for adults and preteens for the social goals. The social aspect was added in the Neighbors update which was before Teens and Seniors were added. While they have removed ones that are no longer possible FM hasn't bothered to update the social goals with new content since they were added. While it might be annoying to have to update my HFN it would be nice to have some fresh goals!

Do the teen idol guitars work for practicing guitar or does it have to be one of the old ones?

Adults have to use the old one, I believe. That's how I meet the social goal anyway.

You can use the Toyota guitar from the Promotions store, it's free.

Thank you!
I've always used the old one too but I was curious because my new HFN has the others already.
