Question about the Grim Reaper

I'm curious about something I gave an orb to a sim as I'm going through the quest. The Grim Reaper is actually following around a different senior. What will happen if he doesn't have an orb? Should I revert to an older save game

If your sim is about to die and hasn't completed their dream and doesn't have any kind of orb the app will tell you that your sim hasn't completed their dream yet but they will die anyways unless you pay the LP to let them live longer.
