No Saved Data in the Cloud

When I opened my game this morning and tried to save my game, it said no save data in the cloud. It was the same on both my devices. In my case, there was no harm done since I could save the most recent version but it could have been REALLY bad!

This happened to me yesterday morning, although I uploaded my progress the night before and downloaded on my phone. Usually I could be sure uploading was fine then. When I looked for my Player ID I saw a completely new one, as if I had logged in with a new FB account Of course I didn‘t. I can’t even log out on purpose, but have to wait until the game des it automatically about once a day.

My game is also safe on my iPad and on my phone, so it‘s not too bad. On my phone I’m only logged in with Game Centre and still have the known ID. This way it‘s not possible to move from one device to the other, as they show different Player IDs. I could just log in with GC on my iPad, but I don‘t want that right now. If I log in with FB on my phone now, I would probably lose my known Player ID. I want that ID back for my FB account.

I’ve never really made note of my player ID…I should start paying attention.
I’m getting used to strange things happening on my ipad but I was surprised this time that my Android phone also showed no saved data since I had downloaded it last night.
I’ve gotten into the habit of using two devices as a way of backing my game up since the cloud is unpredictable and unreliable…glad I have the ability to do that.

In the meantime I got to know that "No Saved Data in the Cloud" can also effect Android devices! No matter if you only use Android or if you play with two devices - one Android and the other iOS.

If you’re used to play with different towns/accounts on the same device, don‘t do it right now. You may lose one or even both of your towns!

I retired my other version of my town to my husband’s phone over the weekend…I figured the “no data” was why it kept disappearing from my party boat.

For now it‘s really better not to play two towns on the same device! Downloading may always fail if you log in with a different account.

I think the disappearing towns from the Party Boat is different from this bug. Neighbors seem to appear/disappear randomly. My town got a new Player ID - there was no data in the cloud, because I did not upload some with that player ID, yet. I don‘t know if neighbors were able to visit my town at that moment.
With the older bug that used to push games into a loop, the town was still shown on the neighbor‘s Party Boats, but visiting wasn‘t possible then.

The town that kept disappearing was really only an extra, ~once a week, backup of my active town. Most of my neighbours there have never shown up on my party boat because of their Facebook settings so I don’t know if they still play or use my town but I didn’t want to delete it in case…it can exist in limbo on my husband’s phone…unless it disappears again lol.

Happily playing along this morning…2 Influence challenges done, SimChase well underway, latest Downtown Developer build almost complete and the last site started. I left the game for 45 minutes and when I tried to open it on my iPad, Crash!! Repeated crashes as soon as I open it…luckily, I had saved my game before I exited and I downloaded it to my phone and can carry on but it’s getting a bit ridiculous…I’ve done all the usual reboots etc…normally, my next thing to try would be reinstalling but who knows how that would go. The Android version is not without some login glitchiness but at least it’s still functional.

After several cycles of closing everything and rebooting, I decided to try one last time before reinstalling and it worked.
Save often and if possible, back your game up on a second device.

I‘m glad it finally worked!

Do you have Game Center or Google Play logged in within the game? If yes, upload without FB login at least once a day. Some players could download their towns (that way.) by using GC or GP only.
Edit: "…that way“ is not correct. In the past the game used to save to the cloud with both, FB and GC/GP accounts at the same time. The missing data seems just to effect saves with FB login. /edit end.

Possibly it’s also better only to have the last line logged in when uploading with GP or GC.
