That was apparently the reason in my case as well. I brought a sim home and suddenly I could delete the lot like usual. Thanks everyone for help

Wow that is expansive. I had no way of checking it out since I currently can't buy rooms. I was pretty disappointed already since I hoped for completely custom shapes, but that price makes them a completely non viable option for me.
