I have been building sci-fi houses and then taking the three days to accumulate enough LPs to buy it again until I have saved enough for the two story house (most my lots are built on so for me the two story house costs §9,500,000 but I think that's the cap. I started building on the island and it didn't get more expensive.) I also continue to work for LP while the two story house is being built just to get more. I have repeated this process for about 1 and 1/2 months. My TV went from §108,253,755 to §165,556,084.
It's funny. 1 and 1/2 months of doing this without a problem. I post this and then when I clicked on my newly finished sci-fi house today I didn't get any value added to my town value. Curiouser and curiouser. I know some people have had trouble with this in the past, buildings and houses not adding to TV so I am not saying it is a direct cause of me posting my method on the internet but I find it...suspicious. I don't know much about programming so I don't know if it's even possible for FM to do this but that thought now will always be in the back of my mind.

(I built a huge pool and changed its color until I got up to the TV I was expecting from the house and it cost about §5,000,000. I don't think I'll be doing that again.)

I like how the tv is like an investment. You increase it and you get a percentage of return (for the older players at least), and you use it to increase it again and it snowballs.

From FB:
Kay Sims: Japanese users have conducted a little research in their wiki and found out that
1) For those who have started before Jan 31st, 2013, daily rewards are stable at 0.5% of the town value.
2) For those who started later than that, EA seems to be capping, and at most we only get $10,000 a day.

See below link for details, it's in Japanese though
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... ring#gid=4
Note: I don't think 31/01/2013 was the cap date, probably earlier or region dependent.

I guess, those people see the date of diving update as cap date.

I get the high daily reward. The last time I've restarted my game was after Santa Claus has left the town. I'm not sure, wether it was the 1st of january already, but probably not.
According to the informations in my App Store the next update was the Diving update on 31st of January.

Now I would like to read at the deleted forum, at what time the complaints began ...

Towns with huge values

Post by kathy#555 »

Found that those folks with big town values are not always from USA. Dollar value difference. :))

I have a town with a relatively high value. I began playing sometime in 2012 before they added hobbies I think (sorry , I don't remember exactly when that was, but I have been playing for years, almost since the beginning). I stopped playing for awhile and missed several events, which is why my town value isn't crazy high. (Granted, it is upper $100 millions, almost nearing the $200 mil mark, but I have friends with town values in the high hundred-millions and the billions.) As Palmjill indicated, it was much easier to make money while simultaneously increasing your town wealth in the beginning. Now you get something like a 10.5% return on investment going toward your town value (I believe it's larger when it comes to adding buildings). Also, since I've been playing so long, I have destroyed houses and rebuilt bigger, better houses in their place, which has also increased my town value quite a bit.

Also, I think the cap on daily mail was earlier than 2013, at least in the U.S., because my reward seems to be capped (again, I started sometime in 2012).

My TV is almost 70 million now and I only get a 7,950 daily reward (roughly)
I cannot remember when I started to play, it might have been Christmas 2013, I know I missed a lot of rewards and items because I didn't realise they were once only things when I first started to play the game. I think I started around the time of the singing salmon as I didn't finish that off and now regret it But have built the DIY house twice so I could get the salmon.

Some of my neighbours have suddenly had a massive drop in town value. Literally from the top of my list to the bottom. What could have caused this? When I visit, the towns appear to be still large in size.

A large amount of selling can cause a massive drop very quickly.
