phone option for teen is now similar to adult, and so they have the Call Mom option instead of Grandma (pre-teen)...

so yeah, Call Mom when Mommy is just next to the teen physically...
So funny and true to life! My teenage niece does this to her mom, but she uses her cell phone to do it.

I'm doing the higher education goal atm and no, I don't want to have to change my Sim over to a politician and reach lvl 2!

So far this week, I have baked croissants, read the big book of stuff, planted strawberries, planted pumpkin, done an all-day session of ice hockey... and I'm sure there are others that I've forgotten. It also wanted me to have a Teen waste a day on the couch, but I had to skip that so they could practice their music!

Is it just bad luck, or is anyone else noticing long goals being more frequent?
I had similar goals yesterday, croissants, big book of stuff... considering i have only 1 day left, i have no choice but to skip the goals... :|

Gardening goals complete right after entering the house. So we cannot do it before the goal shows up. This way it counts, when we get a sim eating plant :)

Before the last key goals started, I had to plant garlic between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Then plant pumpkins, wait the whole day for play Cowboy between 5 and 7 p.m. (I got 1 LP/each) followed by a few short goals, strawberries (1 LP), eggplant, diving for a special medal (needed uncountable trials, but I got another LP) 3 sims have a deep sleep (counted at the beginning, 1 LP), wait for daily mail for 8 hours. I got my key *phew*

My current goal is Tai Chi in park at 7 a.m., the text clearly shows "morning". But it did not complete at 7.20 a.m. :( I'm pretty sure it will complete at 7 p.m. like before the teen-update.

I think you cannot skip those goals, so you won't get the Highschool :(

Possibly this helps:
Your sim will only lose 1 level of his profession. If you change a scientist, you get this level back with playing chess ->10 minutes instead of 3 hours with a telescope for the same progress. If you have to level up the politican, use the soap box ->15 minutes instead of 3 hours with a mirror. If there is a higher level politican already, the "reach lvl 2" completes at once.

Watch a movie at midnight...

I work early everyday so it's almost impossible for me to be up at that time and even if I am I'm not thinking about playing The Sims :D

So I had to skip it... *sighs* it's the only goal I have ever skipped or finished with LPs. For the others I've waited for days... even weeks. For example, one day the goal was "Add a Sim" and I had to wait like 2 weeks to pass two levels cause I didn't have any unlocked sims xD.
I'm on Facebook! Just ask ;)
It might take me a while to answer, but I will :)

I have this goal now...The 'movie at midnight' goal is very annoying
Never, never am I awake at midnight...not if I want to get up at 6am the next day!

You could change your time zone so you can do the goal on time and don't have to skip it.

I just had that goal and was going to do the time zone thing, but I had so many other issues going on with the sound problem and teen idol and whatnot, that I just skipped it this time. Didn't want to take a chance on messing everything up more than it already was. Next time, I am definitely doing the time zone swap, to see if it works. I can't be up at midnight, since I get up at 5 every day in RL!
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)
