You can check it at my town, too. In the house on the Island near Riches Of Terra I stored lots of baking goods. Sure, you'll see the empty stoves.
There are also 4 garden plots with vegetables. I took the harvest this morning, but I didn't save yet.

Do you think we should add drum kit, microphone, bass guitar, keyboard, and electric guitar as HFN items?

I've just added them to my HFN, but I'm not sure who else has done this. If we want to use the Teen Idol glitch we'll have to have neighbors with these items available. I assume people have them in houses somewhere, but it would be nice if they were grouped with the other social goal items.

I put my original set of purchased 3 star instruments in my HFN and Dora kept the set she earned at her house on the island where she is currently working to get the sign resources (but her parents made her go to school today - enough of this noise!)
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

I went ahead and added a room for them to my HFN (which is now my haunted space. I moved many of my haunted items there).
Even if my neighbors don't use them, since my own sims sometimes use my HFN, it will nice to have the extra set available there.

I've added the musical instruments.

Another HFN item I've been wondering about is the diving board. I could add one (I think) at my HFN pool, but I haven't because I have the town pool with its diving boards.

I have another pool with six boards at a private house that my divers all use, and anyone else could use, too. But does it help our neighbors a lot if we put the diving board at the HFN? Some of my neighbors have done this, and some haven't, so I've been happy to use the community pool if that's the design where I am visiting.

This is a small point,I guess, but I'd like to know what you think is preferable. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to remodel!

Since baked goods can be kept till used, I decided to leave out one more oven with a prebaked croissant. Have saved my game so if the goal comes up for any of my neighbours please check my HFN to see if this croissant idea works. Thanks!
Here's what Grace found:

Unfortunately it does not work :( Same with planting, if we don't harvest. We also don't get medals for hobbies anymore, when the neighbours sims finish their task.
Not sure if this works for others, but what I've found over the past week is that my other town's sims can help finish neighbour goals for me e.g. hibernating, smoked pulled pork etc. so my sims almost never spend more than an hour at their neighbours' unless it is a baking/planting goal.

I've permanently put that town to accomplishing tasks that are on the goal list now. Thought I'd share because it's made collecting SPs heaps easier for me. Not sure if this is a glitch that might get fixed (or is already fixed) in the later updates though (p.s. on MI update).

As for the BBQ pit, pût it near a big door with a 3 stars table and a 3 stars chair inside. Don't pût any picnic table outside. This way, you force your sim to go inside to eat and the goal last 15 hours instead of 17 ;)
(There isn't any 3 stars table nor chair that goes outside, at least on iOS ....)

Hère is what i've done in my HFN, as an example :

I love this thread, I am beginning my own HFN and it's great to know what I need in order to help out my neighbours. Now just need simoleons to accomplish it :D
