I modified it slightly to have a door from the kitchen to the yard where the scarecrow is. But he's all blocked in by shrubs. I relocated the front door to be the kitchen door, so when they leave, I move a bush. That lets others vist come to visit and hunt and the escape route is minimal, since there is only one space ghosts can get through. I block it when I am there, but I know you can't do it to a neighbor's house.

It's worked well for me, I am not a good ghost grabber, and I haven't lost one yet. Got Andie to level 7 last night, caught Beetlegeist and now we're working on catch all ghosts for an hour or so, until they (and I) start work. My newbie, Rolanda, who gave up her fashion hobby, has actually caught the weirder ghosts - maybe because she IS a newbie? I have 4 more to go, but it's going to take a long time.
I found that the scarecrow will also work as a block for the ghosts, if you want to vary the perimeter.

If it helps anyone: it took about a day and a half casually playing one ghost hunter (previously level 6) to get everything.

Thanks for that info - I only have 1 hunter that was at 6 when this started, Arabella is only 5 and Rolanda is level 3 now. So the burden is all going to be on Andie and I can only play before and after work. She got level 7, we caught Beetlegiest and are working on getting her up to level 8 (50 ghost hunts if she earns 2% experience each time).

I have the other two hunting as backup, so once she gets level 8, any of them can get a level 8 ghost and I'll have a better chance of catching them.
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

Since I am a re-newbie to the game I had a distinct disadvantage as I started the challenge with 0 ghost hunters. For the first day I used he house as normal but was a pain chasing them down. Built a room and loaded with haunted things. Just turned over level 6 and have maybe 5 or 6 ghosts left to get. Don't play all the time but, check in often during day just to trap ghost and start another hunt. I was afraid I did not have time to finish challenge but I think I should be ok. And yes, the conifers are working like a charm.

Mission Accomplished! All ghosts captured! Andie has high hopes of selling the house and getting a commission on it. Rolanda is thinking of moving out of her present home and taking this one, if Lee doesn't beat her to it.
The ghosts are unhappy and are trying to negotiate being allowed to live in another house outside of town, where, if they promise to stay on that lot and not haunt everybody else, they would be allowed out of the containment unit.
I want to make a permanent haunted house for them. I have a Dark Secret house and a Sanctuary, both near the art museum, on the outskirts of town. Trying to decide which one would be better as a permanent haunted house, so I can relocate the residents and use the wallpaper and carpet before it goes away. No need for the elevator, it's too much money to build a second floor and get the elevator. Can the spooky stairway be out in a house and just go nowhere? Can it be outside the house and go up to the roof? I could put it on the lot with the house and if I ever built a second floor, it would be there to use.
I can restructure both houses a little bit, kind of leaning toward Dark Secret lot, but Sanctuary might be easier to remodel? What do you all think?
Trying out the putting green before going to work.

And finished!
The last ghost, Fright in Shining Armor, gave me a headache. It took 2 hours with 5 hunters to get him to show up.
And then he showed up 3 times in a row.

But now my ghosthunters can get some well deserved rest.

Wow! I got lucky, within 15 minutes Lord Flapsalot (the black one, whatever his name is) showed up 3 times for all 3 hunters , then I got 1 round of regular ghosts, then finally the last one showed up 3 times in a row. I had been hunting on my high LP / fast recharge items, and just for laughs I switched to having all 3 hunt on my cheapest items - that's when he showed up. I had no trouble catching him either - dummy flew straight into the outside wall and bounced back right where I was frantically tapping the end of the ghost hunting weapon Arabella was holding (try to get them with 1 hit as they emerge and wound them). Those conifers surrounding the house did a great job blocking all escape routes!

All these ghosthunting and rapid tapping reminded me why I prefered woodworking so much. :D

Basically, it's a way to use the new stairs without having to spend 1million on a second story.

What do you think? - Good idea or just silly?
I like your idea, and actually my Haunted Boat is being built now. Ghost quest is completed, the conifers fence was great, no one was able to escape. I don't really want dedicated house, don't use this hobby very often, too demanding with 3 min and catching, but boat sounds fun. Can ghosts swim? :)

I actually decided against the idea after I took another look at those Economy Houseboats. They are so ridiculously small that you could only have one or two rooms on each floor (unless you forgo any outside area). By the time you've got a table and a few chairs or whatnot in, it's essentially full. So I didn't think I could do it justice.

It would work on one of the bigger boats, but they cost a lot of SP, and I'm saving up for some cool furniture.

So, I've just created a few rooms on an empty plot and decorated them with the new wallpaper. I'll probably leave it now and come back to it when I'm done with the houses I'm working on at the moment. I tried the new flooring too, but it really is the epitome of bad taste and seems to clash with everything, so I decided not to bother (it would have been much better if they had done a matching set of floors+walls).

Although I do like the walls, like the new table, they don't really say "haunted house" to me, more like the cheap tat you might get for a kid's Halloween party. It's not exactly the kind of thing that Dracula would have (or even for that matter Angel, Edward Cullen or Bill Compton), and so it doesn't really go with the theme I was going for.

It really is a shame we didn't get any haunted house. :(
