I seem to get pick axes from doing karate at the community center. Not fighting with the dummy but just breaking the wood.

If you are looking for a fast action to collect resources or XP don't forget the wardrobe action to "change into swimsuit/everyday clothes". It is only a second. Good for resources and XP (if you or a neighbor's flame of wisdom is high). I haven't gotten any of the rare resources from it yet but I have hope.

Yesterday I got 2 pearls - 1 was for feeding a dog. And I got 1 Gold for fashion design

Take a Sim to a new neighbor and make friends. The handshake is a couple of seconds, but it gets you to the high five which is quick. I wore out one of Bazlit's guys last week, poor Edward made 3 friends from my group, but he did 100 handshakes and probably 200 high fives

Edward is open for slappings too. He really doesn't mind. I slap him around any chance I get.

I've used this hint since you posted it. One magma ember and a few of the usual bamboo, chisel, onyx, that sort of thing. So thanks. And it is good for xp, definitely!
