Sorry for the off topic: can you use the "game console" (or whatever it is in front of the TV)? I was curious so I tried to build that house on my testing instance, but the item does not seem to be active - does not provide any interactions. Is it broken in my game or is it just a decoration?

Other than as a source of unique items, that house does not really seem to be worth of building. At my neighbours, I have seen so many amazing houses, so I'm wondering why they selected this one as a pre-built house - the floor plan is chaotic, weird, getting from one room to another takes ages.

So I was wondering whether the game console actually works - even though it would be a pretty expensive console :D (But well, I have built at least 10 DIY houses just to get the singing solomons...)

The game console doesn't do anything. Too bad, eh? :(

You have resolved my dilemma - I don't need the console then! :D 8-)

That's a nice house, minisaga. It's too bad the quilters can't set up outside, though. I had modified a Beachside Escape but with the availability of basements I made the whole yard a "roof" for a couple underground apartments. Before it was a Beachside Escape it was a full of trees and little cabins and before that it was the Zen Retreat. Modifying and building is what I really love about this game.

All things considered, I think it should "do" something! Maybe someday...

That's what I like best, too. (Sometimes I forget to add sims.) At the moment I'm building and modifying the houses from Another Sim Town.

Granny would love to be able to quilt outside where she can watch her grandchildren play. And her grandchildren wish the game console worked!

The competition to choose the Player Designed House was not long after the game came into being. I guess people weren't quite as practiced at building back then :D

I built a load of DIY houses for the windows and doors ... now I realise there is a glitch that can help with that!

The fact that the console doesn't do anything is almost as disappointing as the PDH itself. Ho-hum.

Yup! I only have about 15 sims now. Ten for cooking up LPs, and a couple of extra adults, a teen, preteen, and toddler for various tasks. To build the new park I had to add a mess of sims just for that. They moved out right after, though. ;)

Well back then our building options were much more limited. We didn't even have multistory options back then...let alone swimming pools, balconies, and premium lots.

I built it simply for the fact that it was cheaper to buy that house, then to purchase the LP items that were included in the house. It even had the toddler train play mat which at the time cost 150 LP! So it more than paid for itself. When comparing it to the houses we are able to build now, of course it's not an "amazing" house. But at the time it was amazing to get everything the house came with. At the very least it's easy to admit that every inch of that house was utilized.

I think even given the limited building options back then it's not a particularly well designed house. But the 42LP build cost for the content is still amazing value!
