School question

Post by EileenK98 »

So we now have an elementary school and a high school? What about middle school? It seems to me that a vital step has been skipped here. How does this work?

The Sims strike me as somewhat retro. Middle schools have only recently become widespread. In the past, that age group was often included in either elementary or high school or divided between both. My brother went to a secondary school that began with seventh grade (12 years). I went to an elementary school that went through eighth grade (13 years). Larger towns may have had a junior high, but, perhaps we are to think of our towns as being too small for that division. Also, it may be that the divisions are different in Australia where this game is based.

No such thing as middle school when I went to school in Australia..a long time ago mind you!
So Kindy (Kindergarten) :-)
Primary - till about 11 or 12
Secondary till 17 or eighteen
In the UK there isn't a concept of middle school in most areas as far as I am aware!

We attend a private school that goes from Pre-K3 to the 8th grade. So this progression from elementary to high school isn't all that big of a shocker to me.

Although, my poor pre-teens sure have been slaving away at those middle grades for a long time. Perhaps I should age them? Naw.....lol.

Everywhere bar Dorset I think! They've actually just got rid of most first and middle schools from this September thankfully and come in line with everywhere else with the kids starting secondary at 11 (year 7) instead of 12. We do still have a couple of first schools though going from reception to year 2 and then the middle schools from year 3 to year 6 as well as the primary schools covering the same age groups. It gave the schools the chance to fleece the parents for extra photos. In addition to the individual one and class one, there was a whole school photo as it was the last year of primary going to year 7 and we've got the same this year from the secondary school who are doing a whole of school photo with the first year 7s at secondary school plus a all of year 7 one! My son is 11 and year 7!

There is no kindergarten in the Sim world. Toddler Sims get to play and sleep all day.

Many of us who want a preschool for our toddlers just use a house and build our own. One only needs to sacrifice an adult to work/live/be there because the toddlers can't be alone. We add items from the home-store to make it the kind of preschool we like. As for Kindergarten, depending on what part of the world you live in it is part of the elementary school system (like where I live) and would not need it's own building. I use my self-built daycare facility as a preschool for my toddlers and an after school care for my teens and preteens. The teens are especially helpful since they can give the toddlers baths, push them on the swing, and feed them. unfortunately, the toddlers can't be left alone with the teens, but the extra help is still worth it to me. When I get back to my ipad I'll post a pic or two of my facility.
