As for your trapped Sim, try force closing game and restarting device to see if it helps.
If not, you might have to reset your game.

Your game should have been saved each time you access the party boat. Haven't you manually saved your game before?
If you are worried about your saved game try downloading it into another device to check how old your saved game is before resetting your game. The zendesk link tells you how to reset your game.
