OK, maybe I have way too much time on my hands, but I've always loved looking at house plans, so this game fulfills my nerdy house-planning dreams! I do draw the floor plans of some of my houses on graph paper before I create them. Does anyone else plan their houses?
Also, I've used the seven beach (double) lots in my main town to build a pastel rainbow. My far left beach house (which is also a near model of the home I really live in) is purple with the purple roof, the next one is indigo, then blue, then green, then across the waterway I have my yellow, orange (peach), and pink (well, I demolished the pink one in anticipation of the Teen Idol house, which I will build there and make pink). Does anyone else plan their communities in some way?

Re: Does anyone else design Sims houses on graph paper?
Don't go as far as pre planning a house, but love to start rearranging walls & furniture & find a new design organically developes. Love you're rainbow idea, I get bored with the tasks sometimes so that's when I start designing. I get lots of ideas from this forum plus sadly I get ideas for my real home by decorating my sims homes.
Always look for the positive

Thanks, it really looks pretty when you're flying around the town (the rainbow, I mean). I had a hard time figuring out which roof to use for the yellow house, but I finally chose the Japanese Retreat roof, and it looks nice.

Love the rainbow idea. I have preplanned some homes via graph paper, and some I have done on the fly.

Re: Does anyone else design Sims houses on graph paper?
I have taken a house "down to the grass" as I call it, then tried to build a house on the fly. I'm never satisfied with them. When I use graph paper, I can see how it will work and I don't have to resize the rooms.

I think I will be using graph paper in the future. Because what you said about designing on the fly, I always have to resize the rooms.
And I'm playing on an iphone with makes it even more of a challenge. Though I could use Bluestacks on my PC for the designing but it is terribly slow.
For now I have been focusing on leveling up and just used pre-made houses as everything is temporary.

I design on the fly, I don't plan much (sometimes with flowers or conifers), I simply start and let things grow.
It does mean some more work, I guess, but I love growing a maze or a nice house in bits and pieces from moments of inspiration.

Re: Does anyone else design Sims houses on graph paper?
As with most things in life, I'm on the fly. I do find it costs me more that way. I may try the graph paper route sometime just to expand my horizons. Kind of hoarding my resources until I see what this latest update is going to cost me. And for the Halloween and sure to come Christmas decos. Have seen some amazing ideas on this forum which leaves me feeling less than creative with what I've done so far and inspires me to think less literally and practically and more creatively. Some peoples houses look so much larger than mine but I wonder if that's because I tend to clutter mine up with too much stuff or possibly the difference in design. Less rooms equals more space. This is a great forum.
