With 5 hunters, I managed to catch all ghosts in about 2 hours yesterday. In fact I managed to get the last 2 ghosts after about half hour after reaching level 8, but with 7 hunters.

My items are not recharging properly. A doorway in my haunted house has been stuck at 20 mins until reset since yesterday. And a lot of the time items I haven't used reset themselves, or something that is mean to take 10 mins is taking an hour to recharge. I think this is happening when I don't stay in the house for the whole 3 1/2 mins, but there's no way I'm staying there until they have finished hunting! I have my woodworking going at the same time. :)

Mine have done the same thing. Some go waaaaayyyy longer then the time they say to reset. I have even tried staying at the house. Clocked it....still off. This is one of those thing I wish they would've left alone. I have tons of haunted stuff and only four ghost hunters. I shouldn't have to wait that long in between hunts. At least half the time the timers are off.

Well, that is good news. I feel relieved somewhat. I had no trouble except for the Fright in Shining Armor. He would not show up, and I was reliving the rainbow trout scenario. Maybe it was just a fluke then. If I can get them in two hours for 5 LP, I can deal. I only have four hunters though, and can't see adding more right now.

I have taken out doors and put up a few conifers. Was wondering if it is possible to make a small enclosure with conifers and hunt there only. I can catch them now, but have read the ghost get quick later on.
I have not found them that much of a challenge. I don't have any barriers really. You'll be fine. Conifers do not stop them completely. Haven't got to the last two though...

I finally finished the challenge using one ghost hunter and eight spooky items spaced out among 4 houses. I noticed that the spooky putting green is free so I've been loading up on it in hopes to sell it back later...but any tips on whether this is worth my time? Maybe it's a limited time item and won't have any resell value after halloween because it will taken off the shop.

You don't need to buy a lot of hauted items.

I don't know if i am the only one to have this glitch but i use a haunted shaft (chimney ? I don't really know the English word) and the good new is that i can use the same item for all my Hunters !!! So i you buy two of them, it is enough to always get a haunted item charged as it takes 5 mn to kill all the ghosts from 5 or 6 hunters.
I hope this Will work for you too !
It is also working with the bookshleves but they take a really long Time to get charged so i use the chimney.

If your sim stops hunting next to a haunted object, that object's timer will be reset (to maximum) even if nobody had started their hunt from that object. So, some of it is down to luck.

I noticed that too! My trick was to place one haunted window and a haunted item inside a room (against the wall) with no doors. There were 4 houses set up this way and I would always start with the window in the house. Then on the second ghost hunt, I would click on the item encased in the unreachable room and the sim would ghost again standing next to the window. I would repeat this at the second house then the third house and so on. By the time I would come back to the first house, the items would be recharged.
