Hey Palmjill! Thanks for the info. My husband is a stickler about identity theft, so basically me getting a FB account is not going to happen. But I didn't know about the neighbors there and there is always hope, right? So until hell freezes over or pigs fly I will just enjoy my SFP on my tablet and making new friends such as yourself on here. :-)

You can set up a FB account with a new FB only email - use gmail or live.com - they're free.

Make up an email like KittySneakers@gmail.com - the only thing you have to give FB is your email address and I think a birthday and a name. I used my cat's name for an FB account for a game. FB doesn't know he's a cat. I even made up a birthday for him (May 25, 1977 the Star Wars premiere date - my cats' names are Luke & Leia). There is no address info (just "Florida") and he's only friends with people that I needed to be friends for the game. No identity to steal if it's your pet :) Set the privacy controls to the most restrictive (only friends can see you and you just grant permission to people from this forum). And don't fill out the bio info - it's not required beyond 2 or 3 basics, which won't be your real info anyway. Your hubby might go for that :)
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

Hey Hufflepuff! Thanks a big bunch for the FB info and ways to make it more private. I'm going to keep this in mind and may in fact try it a little later on. Does FB ever send messages to the email that you use to set it up? Or is that something that can be configured in the settings? I know that he will be thinking that somehow it will get back to my home computer and corrupt it or read and steal all the info on it or send out email to everybody in my desktop contact list or SOMETHING!! Thanks for you help :-)

FB very ocassionally sends email to the user's email when there is some important announcement eg change in terms and conditions. Other than that you can configure your settings such that you will not receive any notifications via email from FB.

What about a picture for the account? Do you have to use a photo of a human? Or can it be an animal or other type of design?

My cat has his picture in the picture part and the larger "cover photo" is a picture of Luke & Leia sitting on top of my son's iguana's indoor cage that we use when the weather is too cold to keep her outside.

I disabled all FB notifications except notices directly from FB Admin - he never gets any email on that email. I use it as an email for certain kinds of things like political campaign newsletters and things like that so they are not cluttering up my "good" mailbox. My regular FB account is linked to my ancient AOL email and nothing important goes there. I have a completely different, private email for important things and I never give that address out to FB, any games, campaigns, things that I sign up on to get coupons... it's strictly for important things like bills and financial matters and other personal stuff and it has very strict spam filters - I have to check it every week to make sure nothing went in there that really isn't spam, but since hardly anybody has it, I don't get a lot of weird stuff.
