I was wondering if anyone else is playing without using the social features of Freeplay? I don't use Facebook, so I can't have neighbors or earn the social points. I was thinking that I might just buy some of the points to get objects that I want or something. I think it's a real shame that this game is tied to Facebook. I don't know why they don't connect it to Origin?
Anyways, is it possible to play the whole game without the social stuff? Is it possible to just purchase the sp points and ignore the rest of the Facebook features? Also, the back-up to the cloud feature is another thing tied to Facebook, so I was wondering if there is any way to make a hard copy back-up of your game?

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
There's no other way to save your game if you are on android/kindle. If you are using iOS then you can use game centre.
But yes you can play without using or earning SP. I actually don't use them much because I can't be bothered with the neighbour goals. But if you're happy not to get the furniture & house that cost SP then there's no reason you can't happily play without them!

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
Before the neighbours update we only could save via FB. I don't use FB in real life, but it wasn't that big problem to sign in for the game. Although I needed much time for the decision, whether or not to sign in
I changed all privacy settings to "only me" or "friends". As long as I hadn't added friends, I didn't get any requests or messages.
Now I've got a few friends on FB and a few on Game Center. Most of the names are familar to me from the forums or the FB group, and I really like to share my town and experiences with them.
But, as Mon pointed out, one can play without

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
Some of the furniture and items looks so wonderful, but I was thinking it might be better for me to just purchase the social points and get the goodies that I want, if I feel I really must have them. I am opposed to Facebook for many reasons, and I really wish they would not chain this game to that site! If I could create a page with a username instead of my real name, that would be all right, but FB likes to close down accounts that don't use real names

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
You can also simply use Another Sim Town to collect SP for a handful of the goals. I started off this way because I didn't want to add any new neighbors. I did hobbies like a crazy wild woman to earn LPs for skipping. I went back and forth between having neighbors and not, visiting and not, until I finally caved in so I could build the house. I still kept up the hobbies to skip tasks, and haven't had to make any SP purchases. I would say that having a specific goal made it easier. When I don't have a goal for the SPs I don't bother with the social part.

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
Remember the game comes with its own automatic neighbour town called "Another Sim Town". This is entirely virtual and doesn't need Facebook. You can do some of the goals there, but not all of them.
Also, neighbour goals can be skipped using 5LP for each. So, you can always amass a lot of LP (by doing hobbies etc.) and trade 5 of them for every social point you need.
Without social points, you won't be able to buy the Nighclub or any houseboats. These things are by no means essential, although it depends on how valuable they are to you.

Hope, you didn't get me wrong? Then I have to apologize. I didn't want to tell you, what you should do.enkeli63 wrote:Some of the furniture and items looks so wonderful, but I was thinking it might be better for me to just purchase the social points and get the goodies that I want, if I feel I really must have them. The advices of SIMazing and HordePrime are really worth a try

If you want to purchase SPs or another bundle, you should know:

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
Is it possible to just buy the SP needed for those things though? I would like to be able to back-up my game, but it's not worth getting a FB account for that. So I was just wondering if one can simply purchase the SP needed for certain special buildings, etc and avoid the whole FB thing. I really do not like that site and do not wish to support them in any way, shape or form. I'd much rather purchase points and support the game I enjoy than be forced to use that site.HordePrime wrote:Remember the game comes with its own automatic neighbour town called "Another Sim Town". I was reading about some of the bugs that happen when your sim tries to visit other towns, are those also a concern with visiting the "Another Sim Town"?? Is it safe to send my sim there to try to get some of the points?
Thank you all so much for the advice on this! I feel very torn because I enjoy the game so much, but I am really against Facebook.

Re: Playing without Neighbors?
I don't know the device you're playing on but I use an ipone and use ifunbox to backup the game to my pc.
If you're on Android you could use Titanium backup but then your device needs to be rooted.
