Playing without Neighbors?

I don't know the device you're playing on but I use an ipone and use ifunbox to backup the game to my pc.
If you're on Android you could use Titanium backup but then your device needs to be rooted.

Yes, I'm using an Android device... but I don't know anything about Titanium. I'll have to look into that. Thanks!

I was reading about some of the bugs that happen when your sim tries to visit other towns, are those also a concern with visiting the "Another Sim Town"?? Is it safe to send my sim there to try to get some of the points?

I am unaware of any problems visiting Another Sim Town. Even with regular neighbour towns, it is usually fine in my experience.
However, a couple of times I have had a hiccup when going to a neighbour's town, and part of the game resets to an earlier time. This can cause you to lose money, resources, and progress towards construction or completing goals, but usually not too much. This is definitely the exception rather than the rule though. I've visited neighbour towns hundreds of times and only on two or three occasions has this kind of thing happened. It's frustrating, but not the end of the world.

From reading other comments, other people have had similar or worse problems. I don't know, but it's possible that playing on iOS (as I do) is safer than playing on Android.

So yes, you can use real money to buy social points and use them however you like. I have no experience of this because I won't spend real money on anything that doesn't physically exist, but I am told it is not without risk - but then again, what in life is?

I tend to buy DLC for any games I enjoy that offer it, but then, I rarely spend money on physical goods! LOL I guess we're kind of opposite that way. My husband and I enjoy games an awful lot, so that's what we tend to spend our "fun money" on.

I guess reading about other peoples' bugs have scared me a bit! I hope you're right though, and that it's not going to happen too often. I am a long time Sims player though, and bugs are pretty much the whole gaming experience with Sims--in my experience! Perhaps Freeplay is a bit more stable than Sims 3 though (I don't think it's hard for anything to be more stable than Sims 3...)

I know what you mean, they scare me too.
But what you've got to remember is that people are very quick to shout on the internet when they have a problem, but they are much less likely to go out of their way to tell you that everything is fine. You're not getting a true reflection of reality - it's like sitting in a doctor's waiting room looking at everyone who is ill and thinking there must be a major epidemic, but it's just a normal day.

It's the same with so many things in life; it's human nature to imagine the worst case scenario. Anytime there is something new, there will always be some people who have bad experiences with it. But becoming paranoid about things is ultimately self-destructive.

Remember, a lot of problems are caused by people with insufficient experience or common sense. Some are very young, impatient, or simply don't really understand what they're doing. You know: the person who throws their phone against the wall in a fit of rage and then wonders the next day why it isn't working; the person who travels to somewhere unfamiliar but forgets to take a map; or the person who gets totally wasted after a night out and then wonders why they spent the night in the park (or worse). Most problems can be avoided with a little thought, and just because someone else had difficulty doesn't mean you will too.

If I could create a page with a username instead of my real name, that would be all right, but FB likes to close down accounts that don't use real names

depends on the definition of the real name At first I was using personal FB account but now switched to "dedicated to SFP". Yeah, it would be more convenient if they can provide separate game-only login but I guess now everyone wants to tap into social networks, FB, G+ or something similar.

I do not care much about getting SP stuff including this scandinavian house (very overpriced in my opinion) but I like the houseboats and some neighbor towns are interesting to look at. So far I don't plan spending real money for the game, not addicted that far, not yet

It's ok if you don't want to visit neighbours but I think that it is very important to be able to save your game. Reading about other prople's bugs makes you want to ensure you have a recent copy of your game backed up so that you can restore it should anything untoward happen.

As for FB, I use my personal FB account but I limit the number of people I add and limit what they can see, not that I post anything much anyway. FWIW most of the friends I have are using a SFP dedicated FB account to connect with others. Just keep the number of your friends small, add those people you meet in the forum and I don't see how FB will have any problem with that! And FYI most of them dont use real names either

Yes, I think being able to back-up my game is important since I am enjoying it very much and have already put a lot of time into it. I think it is wise to have a back-up and after looking into Titanium, I think that it might just be easier to make a special FB account that I use for this purpose.

Reading around on this forum, it does seem like people are having a lot of fun with the social stuff, so it probably wouldn't hurt to add some people that are on here. I could have a chance to actually get to know people on this forum.

So I guess I'll set up an account this afternoon and seek out some people to add

When you visit, you can find most stuff you need for goals in the 2 houses next to the fire station. Everything else in 2 storey mansion (#4 West Oeanside), including pets.
