No idea but why don't you catch it in your own neighbourhood? While it is true that ghosts that you catch in your neighbour's town appears on your caught ghosts list, it might not trigger the goal as being completed if you are not in your own town.

Just hang in there and I'm sure Beetlegeist will show up. If possible have more ghost hunters hunting at once to increase your chances. If it's any consolation, you get to level up your hunter while looking for the ghost. Good luck!

For purposes of the hobbies themselves, yes. Not however for purposes of completing goals.

Talking of which, one thing I am definitely not looking forward to is the neighbour goal of "Catch Cousin Flaspworth". It was hard enough before with only able to use one hunter, now it's going to take forever. Might be tempted to skip it I think...

Horde prime, I went to Perturbee's maze and caught him on the third hunt. My haunted house has all the haunted items and you're more than welcome to try there but it is a two story. I've never had a problem catching ghosts in it though.
