I have all houseboats built (2 standard, 2 premium) and three of the four lots built on Mystery Island. But, only four people live there: a retired couple in the Scandinavian house near the volcano, a divorced dad in one of the houseboats, and a single woman (and her cat) in the Neo Tokyo house. The other three houseboats and my Pro Skater Pad are vacant. I built the Pro Skater Pad and the Neo Tokyo on the island to avoid the sidewalks and fencing that comes with those houses on the mainland, as I do not like them.

Kat, I love the Scandinavian house on the island! Room for a pool, and my retired socialite and tycoon just love the privacy!

So far I have built just 1 home, an artist retreat run by my movie star as a getaway from the stresses of filming. But he is all alone as not enough experience to add more sims or to build the houseboat. I think the island will be a vacation spot, as all my other sims perfectly happy on the mainland.

I just started building on the island.
For now there is just the premade Japanese retreat which will be turned in to an Asian themed retreat center. A place where my sims can get away from all the hectic in the city.
And my most hated Sim, Thomas, will be moving there. At the end of his career in politics he managed to get a nice designer house as a bonus. They didn't tell him it is next to a volcano though

I have my eye on Volcano Way for the Scandinavian House or a Japanese Retreat/spa/spiritual Space. But that's long range. I've saved up SP to do the regular lot. Saving for Neo-Tokyo but think I'm going to upgrade neighbor house first. I'd like to have second story so Neo Tokyo may have to wait. Friend just pointed out today I've got missing items and stuff speared between two houses. It's messy. So that first!

Sounds like he's not too hated. He's gettin' a good deal! Sounds like most of us see the island as retreat, vacationland. It's nice to get ideas.

The Scandinavian House on a premium lot is really expensive. The fence will be the same as on the other island lots. Except the benches in the frontgarden.
Then I would build e.g. the Empty Lot or the Sanctuary on the island, and copy the Scandinavian House according to the pictures at the pre-made houses thread. The Scandinavian House I'd build on a cheaper small lot and move the furniture to the island.
It's just an idea :)

On my island are a houseboat and a small house at Volcano View with owners. Most time they live with their partners on mainland. Sometimes they come to the island to have a break :)
There is another houseboat, which is planed for my teens to hang out. And there is a Café, which includes lots of baking goods.

I plan on building the Pro-Skater's Dream Pad out there, so I can avoid the fugly fence! But generally, I like to have my sims live nearby one another because they're very social, and I don't want someone stuck out on the island by themselves! I think I will remodel the skater's pad to be a place for my sims to party and have fun.

This is what I've been planning too; putting the Pro Skater's Pad on the island, then getting rid of everything except the actual skating ramp. Then, I'll build a nice park around it, including a huge pool (or two), swings, fountain, statues etc. - A nice place for everyone to chill. The only building will be a cafe/restaurant thing, and connected toilets.

Wow, can't wait to see pics of that! I love how everyone on this forum is so creative with their Sims! I have built the Pro Skater's Dream Pad on my island, because I don't like the graffiti fencing the house generates on the mainland, but I never thought to turn it into a park. Very clever!

That's a really good idea ErinPW thanks! I am not too sure I could copy it well but it would be easier if I had it built on small lot in town. I might do a Japanese one there too. I'm thinking a meditation space. Sorta want to just hold for now till after the Teen Idol thing so I have what I need for that. I have sooooo many ideas now. *rubs paws together*. First I'm going to get my neighbor house fixed. I have stuff too spread out.

The island has some nice places. If you choose to build on your own can you inventory all those trees?
