Reduced clothing and hairstyle choices

Post by ZeeGee »

Okay, forgive me if this has been discussed. I've looked at headings and haven't seen it. Don't have time to read all the posts as I haven't visited here in awhile!

So there is finally an answer on the Firemonkeys help site about clothing and hairstyles. Evidently all the choices that are missing have been given to the teens. This was on purpose and, I suppose, permanent. I was hoping it was a glitch.

So WHY, WHY, WHY would they take away our limited choices for clothing and hairstyles and give them to teens, who also have some new clothing? I have two teens. I have a lot more adults. Adults are much more productive than teens. Does this make sense on any level? I am so upset I haven't been playing much anymore. I was looking forward to reaching level 52 (I'm on 49), deleting Sims and redoing them, changing names and so forth. Now I can't do that because I will lose most of their clothes and most of their hairstyles.

Why not make NEW clothing and hair choices for teens instead of taking away what limited choice we already had for adults?

I just can't think of any logical reason behind this decision. If they had put a bunch of new clothing options to purchase for real money maybe this would have made sense. But there's nothing but that ugly Adidas stuff.

RANT OVER

The positive side: I'm so upset I've not been playing much anymore and have gotten a lot accomplished in real life!!

I hear ya! They could at least make the other hairstyles available in the salon, and the other clothes available in the dress shop. They put the medieval costume and hair in the dress shop and it's free, so why not the other clothes??? Right now I have an adult female rock star who is very limited in clothes (frumpy) and hairstyles. It's so aggravating!

I agree, ZeeGee. My favorite skirts for two of my characters have disappeared. They have not been given to the teens. They are simply gone. Can you imagine Lily Munster in a short skirt? I wish FM would quit making the game more complicated to play and just add more stuff.

I changed my Aztec Sim from her long pretty skirt to leggings temporarily. Didn't realize I couldn't change back. I don't understand why they keep taking choices away. They give us something we want, like teens, but then take something away that is so fundamental to playing the game that it makes a lot of players mad and want to stop playing? I just don't understand. It's not even good business sense. You give people NEW choices to make them happy. Not take away what few choices there already are.

I also agree. Our sims have so similar faces; hairstyles, colors and clothing was rare enough to get at least a bit difference. I'd also like to change their clothes now and then. But now it's nearly impossible :(

I agree also. Nearly every one of my adult sims was in at least one item that was removed or given to the teens. I wanted to put everyone in costumes for the holiday, and lost so many outfits before I caught on! :(

And the breakdown of who gets what doesn't make sense. The skater's outfit for the teen girls comes with Uggs instead of skater boots, but the teen boys does come with them, just like the adults do. And the women sims wardrobe no longer has ANY one-piece dresses in the outfits tab. NONE, except the skater outfit, if you count that as a dress.

My guess is that the shape of the teenagers' bodies is enough different that they either had to make two copies (one for adults and one for teens) or chose which image to keep in the game. Regardless, there was surely was something else they could have changed instead.

I agree too. I wanted to change all my Sims into costumes for Halloween. I couldn't do it because I have my guy Sims in hooded swearshirts for the Fall season. They took away the hooded sweatshirts and I guess they gave them to the guy teens. (I don't have any boy teens so I' m not sure.) It makes me wonder if they want their customers to have fun playing their game or do they want us to get so disgusted we quit. I guess they were to lazy to make new things for the teens. It probably has something to do with bandwith though. Either way, it really sucks. :(

Same here. It does look like they could not be bothered to make new stuff for teens, apart from a few new Tshirts. And for some of the adult choices they took away the brighter colors leaving the dull ones, especially for the men. As if adults don't wear bright colors! Like Erin, I find it impossible to change clothes for my adult sims now.

I agree. It seems they took away all the fun clothing and hairstyles from the adults, like adults only wear boring/dull clothes and hairstyles.
I rebuild almost my whole town this weekend, so replaced almost all my sims. Then I found out how much they had taken away. I knew that items had been taken away but didn't realize how much till it was too late. Not only hairstyles and clothing but also there are less 'heads' to choose from, at least for the men. I'm missing an unshaved look, there is only 1 now instead of 2.
Perhaps I should make a clonecity where everybody looks the same and wears the same  .

OOOO! Simazotz! Like Camazotz from a Wrinkle in Time! All the houses are the same, all the flower beds are the same, all the people wear similar clothes and look the same - just different hair and eye color. You'd have to build CENTRAL CENTRAL for the man with red eyes, and I don't know how you would represent IT, since Sims hasn't come up with any decorations, even for the haunted stuff, that look like giant disembodied brains...

Man, I wanna be like Perturbee and have different games on different devices, so I can build Simazotz!
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)
