I was just wondering if building the 2 Storey Mansion worked out all right. I'm going to start building this one soon, so I'd like to know if it turned out fine. I can save before building it, but I also intend to get started on my snow park, and I really wouldn't want to lose a whole day of work if it doesn't work out. So if you could update and let me know how your 2 Storey Mansion worked out for you, I'd really appreciate that!! Thanks
EDIT: Okay, well I got started on the 2 Storey Mansion anyhow, but I made a cloud save right beforehand, just in case. It'll finish up tomorrow before noon, so I wont lose much if I have a problem. Hopefully it works out just fine!!

I forgot to start mine but I am planning to buy it today. I am hesitating because I'll miss my 6,000,000 dollars lolenkeli63 wrote:I was just wondering if building the 2 Storey Mansion worked out all right. That's a lot of money. It's probably more cost effective to buy a Teen Idol Mansion (which has 3 floors) and then remodel it how you want.ILoveSpf wrote:I am hesitating because I'll miss my 6,000,000 dollars lol
Re: Should I build a two story mansion on mystery island?
Wow! I bought mine when it was only 3.25 million and that was hard enough!! I like many of the LP prebuilt houses for the stuff they come with and all, but only the 2 Storey Mansion interested me in the §§§ houses. Other than that, my basic housing was all done with the unfurnished studio, and then I build on and modify as desired. I'm going to start adding the LP houses that I really like very soon, but I try to let one construction project complete before I start another, just in case something goes wrong. My Snow Park will be done in under an hour, so I may get started on a new house pretty soon, depending on how long it'll take to build it. I like to be there when it completes, after reading some issues other people have had with TV and glitches.
Anyways, I'm glad I got the 2 Storey Mansion before it was priced way out of my league! The teen idol mansion is certainly more affordable and gives more stuff, but I did want a variety of pre-built houses to loot and redesign, and some of them I have picked out entirely for their unique fences and paths! I love that I can redesign them and have those unique features to make my town look diverse. I'm really on the fence about Neo Tokyo though--I like the fence but the sidewalk around the house is a bit too bright for my eyes. I am not sure if I'll get it...

If you like a close up view of the Neo Tokyo lot, check out #10 Westside. I did not like the original house so totally rebuilt it (partly based on Kyle Baker's house in another Simtown). My social sim, Sakura lives there but she is hardly at home so neighbours drop by now and then to bake some goodies for her (hence the many stoves there). Sadly you won't be able to use the baked goods for goals nor see them.enkeli63 wrote:I'm really on the fence about Neo Tokyo though--I like the fence but the sidewalk around the house is a bit too bright for my eyes. The Neo Tokyo furniture is pretty unique and only available at the higher levels so you might like to get the house if you like them. I built 3 altogether (demolished 2) just to get the furniture!

Re: Should I build a two story mansion on mystery island?
I agree about the furniture! I was actually in your Neo Tokyo house this morning I just haven't decided if I should build this one on the island to avoid the really bright sidewalk, or if I should build it in my main part of town. Perhaps I'll put it over by the spot for the swimming center (that I haven't constructed yet) and make that a special part of town. Perhaps I will remodel it to be something very special and unique, and the sidewalk is something you just can't get anywhere else... I'm just unsure where I should build it. I don't like it when I got to a person's town and they have like 8 teen idol mansions and everything looks the same. I want to make use of the unique fencing and stuff that is available on many of these other houses, because even though the teen idol mansion is a fantastic deal, I don't want my whole town looking the samePalmjill wrote:If you like a close up view of the Neo Tokyo lot, check out #10 Westside. Re: Should I build a two story mansion on mystery island?
I did build my Neo Tokyo on the island precisely because I didn't care for the bright sidewalks surrounding it. I haven't added a pool yet, but I like that it's an option. Unfortunately, that house is now a bank owned foreclosure, and its previous owner, Eliana Fioretti, once a world recognized artist, is now a homeless recluse (main character of my homeless challenge). She may get a chance to regain her house someday...

Re: Should I build a two story mansion on mystery island?
That's why I love this forum! It really helps you make decisions based on others' past experiences! I hope to eventually build at least one of every house, although the Simoleon houses are getting really expensive. I'm building the space shuttle house now, and then I'm going to save up for the two story mansion and a couple of the others. I'm lucky my DR is the old calculation, because I started on launch day, even though I left for nearly a year and didn't play very often before that. It was really slow going and nobody to talk to, so I went back to Sims2 and Sims3.HordePrime wrote:For those interested in the Neo Tokyo house, this is a comprehensive list of what it comes with (on a standard lot), with the price it would cost you to Buy that item yourself, and the price you can Sell it for if you choose to do so.

I enjoy SFP so much more now, mostly because of this forum and having neighbors! I am not planning on getting Sims4. Sims3 is great for building and stuff, but I actually enjoyed Sims2 more, as a stand alone game. I also enjoy the Sims Stories (Castaway, Pet Stories and Apartment Life), because they are either story play or guided play and I had a good time with Medieval Sims last summer. I like playing some of them for the "game" (goals) and I like the others for making characters, building houses and setting them on autonomous to watch what they do - better than the telly sometimes!
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

Re: Should I build a two story mansion on mystery island?
You're so lucky that you started early! My daily reward will never get very high, so I'm quite grateful for the new town sign boost to rental income! I think I will go ahead and pick up Neo Tokyo for a special spot in town, just to have it. Most of the §§§ houses I don't really care for and they don't have much in them that entices me (other than the 2 Storey Mansion, so I grabbed that as early as I could), but the LP houses are pretty awesome!
I'm looking forward to getting the Scandinavian house but I plan to remodel it and make it actually look Scandinavian!
