How long to perform hobbies

Is there any benefit to choosing the option for nine hour hobbies? I tried it last night and I don't see where it helped me get any closer to completing a hobby. My Sim started at level 5/6 with 0%. She did 9 hours and might have moved 1%. Of course I got 450XP and a chance to roll the light bulb but it seemed like a waste of time to me.

Am I missing something?

The only reason you would want to choose the 9hr option is when you have something to do (sleeping, going to work) and can't attend to your sims. Otherwise, you'd be better off sticking to the 4 minute option.

You are seeing 0% when choosing the 4 minute action but actually it's more like 0.5%. This applies to diving, fashion design and fishing. That means reaching level 6 is going to take some time but it is achievable. Don't pay attention to the 0%, just keep monitoring your hobby progress bar.

quickest way to level up ur hobby is by 4 minute action.
at level 5/6, 1 hour action level up same as 9 hour action, while 4minutes gives u half of it

I don't have time often for the 4 min, so I do the 1 hour. The 9 hour is useless unless you are as someone said away from the game for a long period.

If you are doing fishing... It's really a spiritual lesson in patience. It's gonna take a looong time. Fashion design and diving are also bit slow. But you'll get there. I often have to do the 1 hour or 9 hour option because I can't monitor the 4 min one. Just keep at it day and night... They will get there.

for me, the most tiring, and taking most time is ghost hunting. it is 3 minutes, and no other option of duration of action. i remember wasting whole day just to level up 1 level.
the second is fashion design, then fishing.

skating and diving are the most easy hobby, coz u can reach the max level in a shorter time
