I'm trying to decide what to do with my limited premium lots. When you say the Teen Idol mansion (not that I'm anywhere near getting one, yet) looks the same wherever you put it, does that mean
the same the same? Like everything, down to the fence and mailbox, view out the backyard,
everything? Otherwise, am I correct that anything
else built on the island will have the standard island fence and mailbox, instead of anything special they might have on the mainland like Neo-Tokyo or the Pro Skater's Dream Pad?
Also, it seems that the ones that do have a special yard, etc. don't get a beach view ever, they all just have streets and sidewalk behind them even in the mainland premium lots, is that correct?
I want to build stuff on the mainland that gets the special fence/wall, and I want to build stuff in premium lots that gets the extra stuff like the gazebo in the Japanese Retreat or the swimming pool at the Scandinavian House. Also, I'd like at least
one house with an actual beach view, so I'll need to put
something there on the mainland with
out the special fence. So far, what I've come up with is this:
Unfurnished Studio, Furnished Townhouse, One-Bedroom Home, Mansion: Nothing extra, doesn't matter.
The Sanctuary, Dark Secret, Geek Haven, Medieval Castle, Sim Cinema, Sci-Fi Shuttle: regular fence, only extras are some foliage -- doesn't really matter where I put these then, either. (Geek Haven on the island on page 7, has a pool in the backyard, but the one on page 2 on the mainland premium lot does not. Is that a custom pool, then, or does it come with the house if you build on the island?)
Neo-Tokyo, Pro-Skater's Dream Pad, Player-Designed House: these have a special fence, so they go on the mainland, but again the only extras are the foliage, so it doesn't need to be on a premium lot (I actually built Neo-Tokyo on one to begin with, but then tore it down and rebuilt on a regular lot after some thinking.)
2-Story Mansion, Beachside Escape: these can
only go on a premium lot it looks like. But they don't have a special fence, so I could put them on the island if I want. (Except I think my Beachside Escape is going to
have to have a beach view, right, so it'll go on the mainland anyway. Plus, it looks like it has a special mailbox, even though a normal wall, so yeah, no island for that one. That's one mainland lot accounted for.)
Renovator's Dream, 2-Story Unfurnished: Extras (pool), regular fence. Premium lot, but can go on the island.
...3-Story Unfurnished also has a regular fence and comes with a pool on a standard lot. Is there
another pool (or anything else) if you build it on a premium lot?
Teen Idol Mansion: premium lot only, has a special wall but evidently looks the same wherever you put it, so I guess it doesn't matter. Don't know if I'll put it on the island, for privacy, or near the Sim Town Sign, for vanity.
Japanese Retreat, Designer Home, Scandinavian House: these three get a special fence
and some extra stuff, so they get priority for the mainland premium lots.
...is the Haunted House still available? The
quests thread says you get it for completing the "Ghost Hunters" quest within the time limit, but
this thread says it's no longer available...which one is right? And, in case it is still available (or is again by the time I get that far), does it get anything special on a premium lot, or just a big backyard?
So it looks like I've got four (or five, if the HH gets anything special on the big lot) of my seven mainland lots accounted for already. Is there anything I've missed? I've already got a Japanese Retreat built on one of them. The other three (or two), I guess will just be custom lots, or maybe another (regular) mansion, I'm not sure if I want to build two of anything. Course, I
could always built it stock and then customize it later.
