New house didn't add to my Town Value!

Post by HordePrime »

I was building a Pro Skater's Dream Pad on a Premium Lot on the Mystery Island. - It was scheduled to finished during the night, but I didn't mind because I thought could just get up this morning and see it.

But when I went to check, there was no notification that a new house was finished, and when I clicked on it, the house did complete, but it didn't add anything to my town value! So I think I've been diddled out of an increase in my daily reward.

Not only that, but on my iOS GameCentre, the "Life of Excess" goal that requires me to buy the Pro Skater's Dream Pad has not registered as completed.

I know I could always load a saved game, but I'm not that bothered because I'm on the new TV system, but still it's annoying.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I think in future I shall make sure I'm there when a house finishes construction to deal with it straight away.

I don't remember if my TV went up, but I know it didn't register on GC. I still have that as a GC goal, even though it was the first LP house that I built about 6 weeks ago. I built mine on a standard lot in town, something I regret now, because i didn't know the skate ramp would be locked to the lot. Oliver really enjoyed his skate ramp, but when he got married he moved to the beach house. Was thinking of putting the second story on that house, but I want a pool, too, because Oliver is an Olympian ice skater and I could freeze the pool for him. He also does snowboarding and skateboarding. His wife, Alicia, doesn't ice skate, but she is a snowboarder and skateboarder, so they would enjoy having a house with a pool and a skate ramp.
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

I use a first gen iPad, and I've been with the game long enough to earn significant simoleons in my daily reward (postie, lol), so it is very important to receive town value when I build a new house. I too have had trouble getting my town value added, and what I discovered is this: if I am at the maxed out number of Sims in my game and add a house, the town value will not be added. If, however, I have one fewer Sim than I am allowed, I get the town value for any house I add, even if I demolish the site and rebuild over and over to build up TV. I am currently at Level 52 and I could have 31 Sims, but I keep them at 30 for just this reason. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I can't imagine not having the maximum number of sims though - they earn so much money and XP by gardening, hobbies etc. To be honest, I think having an extra sim earning money all the time would be more beneficial in the long run than any loss in town value, so I think I'll just take my chances. I've never had a problem like this before... I can always get town value by getting to level 5 in the hobbies if I really need to.

Don't think you're the only one who has had the issue so far. From reading the forums (FM and this current one) there were and still are people complaining of missing TV. Some of those who filed tickets managed to get the missing TV added but it did take a while.

I haven't encountered that myself but I hope it won't happen, 3 days is a long time to wait for completion of a house :(

This is an old issue. It happened to me 4 times before I wrote to FM about it months ago. Actually, I have never heard back from them. What I have started to do since then is always to save my game just before clicking on the new house, and switch to another device and save the game there as well. If it the TV doesn't go up then I try again and again with the old save data, using the other device as a backup, until I get the TV added. I use two devices because I don't trust the game not to save automatically.

I only have one fewer than the max allowed, for example, I'm at level 52 and am allowed 31 Sims, but I only have 30, and as I ranked up, I just made sure I had one less than the max allowed at that level.

It turns out I must have (unintentionally) had one less than the maximum number of sims allowed when I built that last house, so that can't have been the problem.
