I've read somewhere that the first teen idol mansion was for free. Is it true or just a hoax? Because I have just read a reply from perturbee that the teen idol mansion costs 80SP and I'm currently on a rush to save up SP! (*cries hysterically)

Known thing is 1st teen idol mansion is given free, then it will be charged at 80LP

Do I need to do the teen mansion within the teen idol deadline? ?

No. You need to complete the Teen Idol hobby grid within the time - that means 3 different songs on keyboard, 3 different songs on bass, 3 different songs on drums, 3 different songs on electric guitar and 3 different songs using a microphone. If you do all that within the time limit, you get the free instruments.

It also unlocks the town sign which you need to get up to level 3 before it unlocks the mansion. There is no time limit for this bit (because it will take ages!)

Apparently, the first mansion is "free", subsequent ones cost 80LP. Considering it has 3 floors, that is still a very good price.

(You'll notice I put "free" in inverted commas because, although the first mansion won't cost anything per se, you will probably have spent around 80LP by that point on buying instruments and/or upgrading the town sign).

Not SP, but 80 LP, and yes, the first one is free, once you unlock the town sign.

It's free! I have mine. I'm building the second and it cost 80 LPs not SP. The timer turns off as soon as you complete the quests (one full set of music). Then you have all the time you want for getting resources.

The first one is free. If you build another one after that, it is 80 LP.

So you are saying the only thing we get with the time-limit things are the instruments? I would still be able to get the mansion even if I don't complete everything on time? Sorry for the newbie questions. My teen is taking forever to complete things on the 1-star instruments because I don't have any LPs.

Well on the plus side, i just completed the quest and unlocked the sign and i already have 20 magazine shoots and 10 radio interviews! I had the glitch where my sims have been getting the teen idol resources since the last update and YAY it kept track of what i got!
I expected them not to be counted to be honest, so am happy with the jump start
