My policy has always been never to spend LP unless absolutely necessary. As I've been playing the game longer and saving up my LP, this policy has relaxed somewhat, but I still prefer nor to use them where possible. The island monuments for example, I have started using LP to level them up when it gets down to 3 resources still needed (so, using a maximum of 9 LP per level). I realise it was either this or give up on them, because there's no way they will ever get to level 25 if you don't use LP.

With the sign, I have adopted a similar policy. I plan on using a maximum of 15LP per level. This I think is a good compromise between blowing all my LP and not using any. I really want that mansion though, so I may change my mind if it gets too difficult (which it is; in 24hours I don't think I've got a single new note - just repetitions. Hopefully now I've got a second teen on the task it should go a bit quicker).

My policy with the island monuments was to not spend lp on them, so I think I will do the same with the sign.
But it depends on how fast the resource gathering will be.

With the monuments I only wanted to level them up far enough to unlock all the house boats. But I wasn't in a hurry as those boats cost sp so I could take my time to level them up slowly. As those resource are only available through random drops it was just a matter of playing and forgetting about the monuments.

The sign is a bit different because I do want the Teen Idol Mansion and I rather not wait half a year to get it.
The random drops for the resources seem even rarer then the island ones, so that means grinding.
Perhaps I'll adapt as similar policy as hordeprime which is to spend a maximum amount of lp per level of the sign.

Still thinking about adding a second teen. People how have multiple teens, can you please tell if it makes a big difference in resource gathering? Thanks.

The only difference it makes as far as resources is that they are guaranteed to get one of the resources when they have collected some of the rows of music ( but they have to collect all 5 rows to start over again, similar to the other hobbies ) with more than one teen playing instruments it speeds that part up.

I had the same attitude with the mystery island, I just wanted a house boat, but wasn't in a big rush to get it. I really, really want several of the teen idol mansions though, and I worried the access will go away, so I'm willing to grind away and then make up the difference with some LPs.

I'm thinking of challenging myself to earn the massive amount of SP 's needed for the Scandinavian House.

I have 4 teens altogether who have pretty much dropped out of high school to write music. Even with 4 working on the hobby almost all day long, I find it very slow going as the notes repeat themselves a lot. Although it is a 1/3 chance of getting a particular note, I sometimes need multiple attempts to get the last note and the long times make it a very tedious process.

It took me 3-4 days to finish the music part of the quest with one teen. With 4, on a good day I can finish up a song (but not today lol). I guess having one more teen would definitely help. If you do decide, better do it before the next update in case they plug this loophole ;)

i'm now in the dilema of whether to aged another pre-teen to teen, because of the probability of the loophole being plugged in next update like how the baby boomers had happened..

Btw it's just one goal only but the goal of two preteens jumping on the bed is still there. I haven't come across any goals needing 2 toddlers or 2 teens so far.

Thanks for the info.
Just decided to get another teen, so that means baking birthday cakes.
Hopefully the next update will take some time to arrive

I've only had two teens for half a day or so, but I've already noticed quite a difference. I finally finished my second grid last night, and I'm now almost half way through my third (it could just be that I'm lucky today though). So, I've decided to get a third Teen (birthday cakes being cooked as I type) to hopefully make things even quicker.

It's also a good use for the free 3-star instruments (if you got them), since you can have multiple teens singing (or whatever) at the same time (mine do this during the night).

I was thinking though. I have found that having a Teen Idol constantly changing in and out of their swimwear produces one resource for the sign every 10-20mins or so (I've tried with preteens and adults and never got any). I therefore wonder if it would be more efficient having one teen do this (for as long as you can before getting bored), whilst any others do the actual music.

I've been playing since September, also play pretty much constantly, but can't figure out how so many have already built the teen idol mansjion and have so much simoleons and LP's! I have 15 adults, 2 teens and 2 pre-teens ..I must not be doing something right! What does it take to get so far ahead? (I have completed the quest, it only came on my device a few days ago)

In one word: hobbies.
Get one of your sims to the maximum level in each of the hobbies (Fashion Design, Figure Skating, Diving, Ghost Hunting, Fishing and Woodwork), then divide your sims among the hobbies and have them do the 4min option constantly for as long as you can.
