So I build my second teen idol mansion and I THINK I'm going to modify it to be my HFN. I was trying to build another but then teen idol house has so much, I figure I can use rework that top floor for hobbies/career area plus some other interesting stuff.
Then I may just tear down the house I was going to use for HFN since it's so ugly and turn it into a water park.
So my question is, should the new house I build that are pre-made be the teen mansion? I read other people are doing that. It seems to be the most cost effective and I'm trying to save my simoleons for a second story for my haunted house. The only premade house I have bought for LPs is the beachside escape.
I feel like I shooooould make the other houses like the skaters pad, the designer home, sci fi house, etc. but the teen mansion adds so much more TV and is more cost effective. Plus all the furniture!

Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
It's entirely up to you.Terar21 wrote:I feel like I shooooould make the other houses like the skaters pad, the designer home, sci fi house, etc. but the teen mansion adds so much more TV and is more cost effective. Plus all the furniture!
The Teen Idol Mansion is probably the most cost effective house - three stories would normally cost you §3million, plus you get stuff worth a load of LP (like the car), SP (computers), a nice pool and all the other stuff.
However, it is not the only house that is cost effective. For example, the Pro Skater's Dream Pad only costs 19LP and yet it comes with a haunted Skeleton that would normally cost you 60LP (would look great in your haunted house!). The Geek Heaven costs only 16LP, and comes with furniture worth a total of at least 27LP.
It depends on what you want. You are allowed something like 31 houses (eventually), so what you don't get now you can always get later.
Just remember; if you want any houses that cost § (rather than LP), get them first, otherwise they will increase in price. (The LP ones stay the same).
Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
Oh that's a good point! I didn't think about the increasing price for the ones that cost money. But I think the only ones I would want are neo Tokyo and the Japanese retreat. I kind of messed on up that part because I was trying to move so fast that I bought unfinished studios for all my houses lol.HordePrime wrote:It's entirely up to you.Terar21 wrote:I feel like I shooooould make the other houses like the skaters pad, the designer home, sci fi house, etc. but the teen mansion adds so much more TV and is more cost effective. I know I could build the Japanese retreat from scratch later. But can you build neo Tokyo from scratch?

Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
The Japanese Retreat comes with the little waterfall thing which you can't get anywhere else (other than the Player Designed House), so you'll never be able to build this from scratch.Terar21 wrote:I know I could build the Japanese retreat from scratch later. But can you build neo Tokyo from scratch?
The Neo Tokyo can be built from scratch, however the majority of stuff inside is not available until the very high levels of the game (something like levels 45-50). So, it would be difficult to build it from scratch unless you've been playing for ages (although it doesn't really come with anything special, unless you like that style). The only thing you won't be able to build from scratch is the style of the outer fencing (which some love, others hate).
See this thread for pictures of the pre-made houses.
Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
I'm planning on demolishing several of my more crowded houses and using the Teen Idol mansion as a base.
Before they became too costly I was buying the studios or vacant lots and building from scratch. I also bought the neo Tokyo because I liked the stuff in it for other houses, and most of the cool furnishings aren't available until the highest levels. After even the simplest homes jumped to a million plus I started buying only LP houses and remodeling. Right now the neo-Tokyo would cost me over 3 million Simoleons on a standard lot, so unless I was completely in love with a house and couldn't just replicate it, there's no way I'd want to try to earn that.
Also, to me, having a high town value is more helpful if you started playing prior to the change in daily reward calculation. The amount I get in the daily reward doesn't off- set the increased cost of building.

Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
The LP houses go up eventually, but not as much percentage-wise as the Simoleon houses. I'm currently building the Space Shuttle on a small lot for 40 LP. As your TV goes up, the price of the houses goes up, but the LP houses seem to increase slowly and they'll stay at a level for awhile, then go up again - eventually they stop, while the Simoleon houses keep increasing. Wish I'd known that at the beginning, I had more LP (bought some with a gift card somebody gave me for my birthday) and built LP houses first - now I can't afford the Simoleon houses!HordePrime wrote:It's entirely up to you.Terar21 wrote:I feel like I shooooould make the other houses like the skaters pad, the designer home, sci fi house, etc. but the teen mansion adds so much more TV and is more cost effective. Re: Can't decide what I want to do :(
Most cost effective house - Teen mansion. 80LP and you get 3 floors with cool stuff. (the dual monitor computer setup is expensive and you get 2 of them for example)
Most value TV wise = SciFi shuttle. 50LP (iirc) and it boosts your TV by 2.1mil. Ugly house though.

And you are both correct. SciFi shuttle is 50LP on premium lot and 40LP on standard lot
