I have just started adding friends on GC, but am a bit hazy as to some aspects. In order to let my neighbours interact with some of my Sims, do I need to have a sim or two not busy (in the saved cloud copy)? Is there a guide to how the neighbours interaction works?

I don't think there is a guide...but there isn't anything you have to do to let your neighbors interact with your sims. Neighbors will visit the saved copy of your game and if they want to interact with your sims will just tap on them. Your sims may already have finished whatever they were doing and are idle or will still be doing what you had them doing when you saved. If your neighbor taps on a busy sim that sim will stop what they are doing but it won't affect your game. If your neighbor leaves and then goes back to your town they will have to interrupt your sim again. Likewise, anything you do in a neighbor's town will not have any impact on your neighbor's game.

I got your request and added you. If you ever need something in particular in my town to complete a task, let me know. I have most of what you need, but it's all over the place and sometimes I chuck things in inventory if they're in my way
