Baby question (- probably silly)

Post by 144Vaux »

I can satisfy all of my babies' needs except toilet. Am I missing something, or do they just 'burst' if you don't give them a birthday?

If you have an adult Sim interact with the baby, one of the options should be to change the baby's diaper. (It looks a bit weird when they do this, as they seem to just throw the baby up in the air - but it works.)

This works like in real life, it happens when it's time :D Changing diaper works or the bathtube.

I don't think they ever get green for hygiene. I don't believe there is a bath interaction for babies - at least I never found one. Just by wearing a diaper they are going to have low hygiene, whether it's changed or not. I tried changing my baby about 40 times before I gave up, made her go to sleep and then woke her up when her birthday cake was ready. Babies only last about a day in my town, the first one was cute and I wanted everybody to come over and see her and play with her, feed, her, etc. The second one was only a baby for about 20 minutes - just long enough for the birthday cake I started pre-baking to finish and to take some baby pix with her family. :)

As I wrote before: This works like in real life, it happens when it's time. Then change diaper instead of bathing. SFP babies cannot bath.

I think the diaper change actually covers the " hygiene" need ( the one with the bar of soap) , not the toilet need. I think there is no interaction for that. Sorry haven't had a baby around in a bit, so not sure.

I have another baby question. Can you move the baby from one crib to another in a different house? I assume you would of course need adult sims at each house, but can the baby visit other locations than its home?

I have a baby right now that I've had for weeks.
Once the toilet need drops all the way down, to the bottom of the red, then a diaper change will work to make it all green again. You have to wait until it drops all of the way down, though, not just part-way. This can take several days. And if you like to keep a baby in the game, you just repeat the cycle as needed. The only downside is that your baby is uninspired the whole time the toilet need is in red.

The baby is tethered to its crib. You can MOVE the baby to a new house, if you relocate the whole family (I did that with Molly before she had her birthday). But, if I recall, you can only put an empty crib in inventory, so I don't think you can put an occupied crib there and then pull it out in another house. You can move an empty crib from house to house. I only have 1 crib and it's been used by Molly and Dora and now it is at Oliver's house waiting for me to get to level 40 so they can have their baby.

Somebody always has to be home with the baby - any adult will do, doesn't have to be parents. I sent mom and dad off to work most days / nights, and had any of the other adults come over and babysit when they weren't at work themselves. The baby sitter can garden, do hobbies (if their hobby item is in the baby's house), read, watch TV, cook, etc. There always has to be one adult on the lot when you have a baby or a toddler. I was surprised you can leave the pre-teen home alone - I wouldn't in real life, so I don't in the game either. Ariana's parents both work the night shift, so Arabella comes over and spends the night so Ariana isn't home alone.

So if I relocate the whole family I don't need an empty crib on the new house? The crib will move with the baby inside and be placed in the new house? I wanna finish my HFN but a family lives there so I was thinking about moving them to the Beach Escape I have :)
I'm on Facebook! Just ask ;)
It might take me a while to answer, but I will :)
