Can't seem to access Competition Center in Neighboring Town

Post by LadyLudlow »

Sometimes when I visit a neighbor's town I get a message saying that there is a new competition going on at the Competition Center. I can never seem to enter the center. Am I missing some simple little thing or is this a glitch that I need to access the FireMonkey forum? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you haven't built your own competition center in your own town yet, it won't let you compete at a neighbors place. I finally built mine, because it was the last thing left, but you have to send a sim in there for 24 hours and IF they win, you get 3 LP. I can earn 3 LP having a sim or two doing woodworking for an hour or so. If the prize was 10 LP I might be more inclined to send a sim in there for a full day. I have only done it once, in my own town, just to see what would happen.
I think, therefore, I Sim! (Or I did before they told me to "harvest" them)

Thanks, Karen. I was wondering about that. I've read other posts that say it's not worth building, but I think I'll eventually do it just so that it's built. I appreciate the help and love this forum. Thanks.

One of my Sims is doing her first time there. I can see it already seems like a waste of time but figured why not, she had nothing better to do lol, plus I was only able to choose Art competition, I wondered why I couldn't choose just any type of competition. It was the last thing I built also because I had read other people saying it was a waste of time lol

The competition changes every 24 hours. The only one I did was ghost hunting and I sent Andie in, because she has the highest level. She actually won the 3 LP, but she could have gotten 5 LP just by regular ghost hunting! Today, mine is doing karate, yesterday it was teaching. It was fishing on Monday, my 2 fisher sims are only halfway through the levels, so I didn't even bother to try.

Ohhh okay. I have a Sim for each hobby that are all maxed out on their levels but yeah it's totally not worth it, since you can gain more just hobbying even if you're not completing every hobby in one day.
I have to wonder why they chose 24 hours as the time for a competition. Why not make it shorter, like maybe 4 hours or something. Or even have maybe different amounts of time you can choose like for other things and have different awards for each amount of time you choose... different amount of LPs or even an item that might cost a small amount of LP or SP. Then people actually might use it on a more regular basis. Although I guess it really doesn't matter as far as game play goes for the developers as to what you utilize and what you don't lol

I think this is a glitch. You're not supposed to have anything to do with your neighbour's competition centre; all it does is mess with your own (and if you have a sim competing at the time, they lose when the competition changes halfway through).

When this happens, you can visit your own competition centre (if you have it built) and come in fourth place in whatever competition it is, even if you didn't have a sim doing one. - So it's a glitch you can take advantage from.

Ya know I wondered about that. I never use mine but I was tapping around town once and accidentally clicked on the comp. center and it said I won 4th place in the comp. I thought it was weird but oh well, free simoleons and XP. I usually use the same neighbor for my goals and nearly every time I go there it says the so and so comp. finished. But I've noticed when it says that, when I come back home it always says I won 4th place in whatever comp. But I'm not complaining cause like i said it's free simoleons and XP :) At least until they fix it anyway.

I think it's worth building, even if you don't use it very often. On those days when you're not going to have time to play, it's great to be able to send a sim to compete and hopefully earn 3 LP for you--that beats hibernating and just earning a bit of xp for you!!!

Plus you get the xp and town sign rental bonuses too.
