Deleting story question

I am planning on replacing many of my houses with the teen idol mansion. Some of them I only want to have two stories. If I delete the third story ( or 2nd and 3 rd story) can I add them back without paying if I want to later on? Or would it cost the millions Simoleons?

No. If you delete a floor using the build menu, you will have to pay to rebuild them again.

But I think you could just delete all the rooms on the upstairs floor without actually deleting the floor itself, and that way, you can always get the rooms back again if you needed in the future.

That's correct. Deleting all the rooms on a floor will not delete the floor itself. However, externally, the house will look like it still have the floor.

Same way you demolish a room. Only you need to use the outdoor tab on your build menu.
