New to sfp, trouble completing goal

So I recently started playing and one of my goals was to build a new business. I have since built 2 new businesses ( the fire station and the town hall) yet have still not received my reward for completing the goal, nor been given a new goal. I'm really frustrated here! Anyone know how to help? Or experienced the same thing when you started playing?

I don't think they qualify as businesses. They are buildings for careers. My guess would be it means the Salon/Pet Shop/Car Dealership/Promotion's R Us/Children's Store/Fashion & Fancy Dress or the Supermarket.

I am kind of new also, so there might be a more in depth answer.

That is because the fire station and town hall are workplaces not businesses.
Businesses are :

• Supermarket
  Salon
  Pet shop
  Children's store
  Fashion & Fancy Dress Store
  Promotions 'R us Store

I think that are all businesses that are available.
I build the Promotions 'R us Store as soon as possible to have access to the Fashion Design studio so my sims could do the Fashion Design hobby.
Perhaps others have recommendations on which business to build first.

I had to build the car lot for a goal to take my Sim for a drive, but after I built that I did the grocery store to get cheaper seeds and then the hobby shop to get the stuff for practicing careers.
