These gifts are more for the people who were not playing last year. Can you imagine starting now and not having access to these Christmas decorations? I think it is actually one of the nicest things FireMonkeys has done. And yes, the prices are different for the items now then they were last year but at least people have a chance to get some.

Keep in mind that we get a chance to have all new items during the Missing Elves quest that starts on the 13th. :D
Yeah, you're totally right. I started this like in the spring or so, so I had no idea about the Christmas stuff. Did you not have to pay LPs last year?

IIRC the Christmas decorations cost a fair bit of Simoleons last year. I was fairly new then so did not stock up too many in my inventory. It's nice that newer players get the chance to buy them, even for LPs, and that we all get a free item each.

Some did cost a lot and some were not so bad. The couch was expensive; I can't remember if it was § or LPs but I remember thinking I wasn't going to spend that much on a 1 star couch, even if it was a Christmas-themed couch. Not when the regular green couch works so well for Christmas!
The wreath light didn't cost LPs, the door didn't cost LPs, and the lantern didn't cost LPs. The menorah and the cookies for Santa did cost LP. The cookies thing was fairly expensive as well, I only bought two (or three) last year.

Then there was a sale and the candy canes and the snowman were free. They weren't a part of the quest last year they were just always available. Then they disappeared after Christmas.
